1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ProteinPilot: Protein Tracker ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Service Description

ProteinPilot is a protein tracking application for iOS that helps users set daily protein goals, log food intake, and track progress over time. The App provides features including food search, barcode scanning, AI-powered food recognition, progress charts, and home screen widgets.

The App is designed as an informational tool to assist with protein intake awareness. ProteinPilot is not a medical device and should not be used as a substitute for professional nutritional or medical advice.

3. Medical Disclaimer

Important: This app is for informational purposes only and is not intended as medical advice. Protein target calculations are estimates based on general guidelines and may not be appropriate for all individuals. Consult a healthcare professional before making dietary changes.

Protein goal recommendations provided by the App are based on general multipliers (1.0–2.2g per kilogram of body weight) that vary by activity level and fitness goal. These are general guidelines and may not account for:

  • Existing medical conditions (kidney disease, liver conditions, etc.)
  • Medications that affect protein metabolism
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Specific athletic or medical nutritional requirements

You acknowledge that nutritional information provided through the App (including data from FatSecret and AI food recognition) may contain inaccuracies, and you are responsible for verifying information relevant to dietary restrictions or medical needs.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

4.1 Subscription Plans

ProteinPilot offers the following subscription plans for Pro features:

  • Monthly: $4.99 per month
  • Annual: $29.99 per year (equivalent to $2.49 per month)

Prices are in US dollars and may vary by region due to Apple's regional pricing.

4.2 Free Trial

Both subscription plans include a 7-day free trial. The trial provides full access to all Pro features. A valid payment method is required to start the trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin and you will be charged.

4.3 Billing and Renewal

  • All subscriptions are processed and billed through Apple's In-App Purchase system
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase

4.4 Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your iPhone:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Tap your name at the top (Apple ID)
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Select ProteinPilot
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription

After cancellation, you will retain access to Pro features until the end of your current billing period.

4.5 Refunds

Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policies. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

5. Free Tier Limitations

The free version of ProteinPilot includes the following limitations:

  • Up to 5 saved/favorite foods
  • Up to 5 custom food entries
  • 7-day food log history
  • 3-day progress chart view
  • No access to AI photo scanning, barcode scanning, or widgets

These limitations may change at our discretion. Any changes that reduce free tier functionality will be communicated in advance.

6. AI Features Disclaimer

ProteinPilot Pro includes AI-powered food recognition that uses your device's camera to identify foods and estimate protein content. Please note:

  • AI food recognition provides estimates only and may not always be accurate
  • You should review and adjust AI-generated values before logging
  • AI recognition works best with clear, well-lit photos of distinct food items
  • AI photo scans are limited to 15 per day
  • Photos sent for AI analysis are processed by OpenAI and are not stored by ProteinPilot after processing

7. User Conduct

By using the App, you agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Use automated systems or bots to access the App's services
  • Attempt to bypass subscription or usage limits
  • Use the App for any illegal purpose
  • Interfere with the App's servers, networks, or infrastructure
  • Redistribute or sublicense the App

8. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, graphics, logos, and content, is owned by ProteinPilot and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. The ProteinPilot name and logo are trademarks of ProteinPilot.

Food nutritional data is provided by FatSecret and is used under license. AI food recognition is powered by OpenAI.

Your food tracking data remains yours. We claim no ownership over the data you create within the App.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied
  • We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that nutritional data will be accurate
  • We are not responsible for any dietary decisions, health outcomes, or medical consequences arising from the use of the App
  • Our total liability for any claims related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time for violation of these Terms. You may terminate your use of the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device.

Upon termination, your locally stored data remains on your device until you delete the App. Active subscriptions must be cancelled separately through your Apple ID settings.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
